CYPRUS FULBRIGHT 50TH ANNIVERSARY MINI-CONFERENCE
Ideas That Flow: A Stream of Ideas Toward Sustainability in Cyprus
Saturday, May 26, 2012
2:00 pm - 6:30 pm
J.William Fulbright Center, Nicosia (next to the Ledra Palace Hotel)
One of the greatest concerns facing each and every citizen of the world today is that of our dwindling natural resources. With the earth’s population poised to reach 7 billion in 2012, there is little consensus on how many people the earth can sustain. Yet in terms of our earth’s resources, one thing is certain—they are finite. Preserving the environment, finding renewable sources of energy, conserving water resources and protecting natural resources—all in the face of observable and documented global warming trends—are all in the best interest of our economies and of humanity in general.
The Cyprus Fulbright Commission is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and will hold a bi-communal mini-conference on sustainability in Cyprus in celebration of this prestigious occasion. The aim of this mini- conference is to bring together scholars from both communities to present work and research on topics including renewable energy, climate change and water resource management.
All presentations will be in English. Participation is free.
